The Tipperary Hills is a public park in the northern part of Tipperary Town. It consists of 8.4 Hectares (approximately 21 acres). The area was formed at the end of the last ice age. Much of the area is undeveloped and it is likely that it is in the same form now as it was when it was formed. In the part of the area nearest the town there are a number of sporting facilities including pitch and putt and handball. The Clanwilliam rugby ground is also situated adjacent to the hills. The Hills are an important recreational area for the people of Tipperary Town. They also include historical areas such as the St John’s Famine Graveyard and an old Norman Motte. They are therefore a very important part of the heritage of Tipperary Town. The Appreciation day is being organised by the local authorities and the town's people in order to bring together the people and organisations associated with the Hills and the town so as to show our appreciation for this marvellous amenity on our door steps. Tipperary Town Council, South Tipperary County Council and the Heritage Council would like to thank everyone associated with this event and to all those who have turned out to support and show appreciation for the world around us.
