Community
The Community Section in South Tipperary County Council was established in 1999 to service the County Development Board and to guide the expanded role for the Local Authority in relation to community development and in tackling disadvantages in society.
The South Tipperary County Development Board is overseeing the implementation of the County Strategy for Economic, Social and Cultural Development. The County Development Board is currently overseeing the implementation of the Review of County Strategy and 2005-2008 Action Plan Priorities. Recreation and Community Facilities and Amenities Grant Scheme
Community and Enterprise administers the County Council's Scheme of Capital Grants for Recreational and Community Facilities and Amenities. This scheme provides financial grants to community and sporting groups throughout the county for capital works.In South Tipperary grant aid has been approved for various projects including club pitches, community pitches, community sports centres, family resource centres, gardens and playgrounds.
The Grants Scheme is currently not open to applications due to limited funds in the present economic climate. The position is kept under constant review however and if it reopens, advertisements will be placed in the local press and on this website.
RAPID and CLÁR
RAPID stands for Revitalising Areas by Planning, Investment and Development. We have three RAPID areas in South Tipperary, Carrick-on-Suir, Tipperary Town and Clonmel Town.
CLÁR is a targeted investment programme for rural areas. The areas of South Tipperary covered by the CLÁR programme are Glengar, Curraheen and Clogher.For more information visit The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs at www.pobail.ie.

Draft Community Safety Statement
At a recent Meeting of the
South Tipperary Joint Policing Committee (JPC) it was agreed to invite comments and suggestions from relevant stakeholders on the Draft Community Safety Strategy up to Monday March 21st 2011.
