Higher Education Grants Scheme 2009
The Local Authority awards grants for higher education to eligible candidates in accordance with the provisions of the Local Authorities (Higher Education Grants) Acts, 1968 to 1992 and the terms of the scheme.
Third Level Grants are available for:
- Full Time Degree (Undergraduate) Courses (level 8)
- Full Time Postgraduate Courses
Certificate and Diploma courses are dealt with by South Tipperary V.E.C.
N.B. Private Colleges and Part-Time Courses are not covered under the Higher Education Grants Scheme.
The scheme has a number of criteria, e.g.
- Your chosen third level course must be approved by the Department of Education & Science
- Your family income must be within the qualifying thresholds
- To apply as an independent mature student, you must be able to prove independent residency from October 2008

Completed Application Forms must be submitted on or before 31st August, 2009, incomplete application forms will be returned.
