South Tipperary County Museum is located
in the heart of Clonmel�s civic centre. Its
vision is to enable visitors to experience the
cultural richness and pride of the County. To
ensure the museum is widely known and
enjoyed by the community and its visitors.

 

County Museum Building Clonmel

New building:
Its new premises officially opened during 2000 in Mick Delahunty Square, Clonmel. It's collection features artefacts from Military, religious, social history, political, natural history, archaeology, geology, social & townscape photography, sports & industrial collections. It houses many rare objects such as its Art collection, Maurice Davin's Rowing Boat an Cruiskeen , (G.A.A.'s first President), Beautifully embellished Sisters of Charity Tabernacle and much, much, more

Exhibitions:
A regular programme of in house and visiting exhibitions, covering a wide range of topics supplements our exhibitions on the history of the county.

Awards:
The museums award winning educational programmes & community exhibitions have received raved reviews from participating schools, retirement groups & local community groups. The museum would encourage groups to make them known to the museum in order to schedule future community exhibitions.

Educational Facility:
Our educational facility also includes workshops, talks, demonstrations and educational activities. An area for children to colour and read is available in the foyer of the museum.

Location:
Adjoining the museum is the branch Library, South Tipperary County Council buildings, Band hall and Swimming Pool. The museum is within the Mick Delahunty Square, named after one of Clonmels many musical legends, which in turn, contains a statue to the noted tenor Frank Patterson.
