Principal Private Residence Charges
The Local Government (Charges) Act 2009 introduces a €200 annual charge on non principal private residences, payable by the owner(s) of NPPR(s) to the Local Authority in whose area the property concerned is located. The NPPR charge is a self assessment liability and owners of property are required to determine and declare their liability to the NPPR charge.
2010 ChargeCollection of the Non Principal Private Residence charge for 2010 commenced on the 31st March 2010. The “Liability date” for the 2010 charge and for subsequent years is the 31st March. The 2010 charge is based on the ownership and status of the property on this date.
Late Payment FeesLate payment fees for the 2010 charge will come into effect on the 1st July 2010. Late payment fees, in respect of unpaid charges, for 2009 are in effect since the 1st November 2009.
Payment Options:A declaration of ownership of the property in question by way of registration is necessary when you are paying the charge.
- Pay online www.nppr.ie with your credit/debit card
- Alternatively the form can be downloaded, completed and forwarded with payment (cheque/bank draft/postal order only) to NPPR, PO Box 11654, Dublin 8. This payment should be made payable to NPPR
- Download and fully complete the form and pay in person at South Tipperary County Council, Rates Section, County Hall, Emmet Street, Clonmel (Cheque/bank draft/postal order only)
Please Note:
- Cash can not be accepted by the Council or the NPPR
- The Council can not take card payments. You can use your card if you pay online
- Payment should be made out to the NPPR. Cheques made out to South Tipperary County Council cannot be accepted
- Please note that if you pay at the Council offices, you will receive an acknowledgement slip only. Your payment will be sent to the NPPR who will issue an official receipt to you.
