The Council is currently implementing an ambitious energy and CO2 saving plan throughout all Councils activities. It aims to reduce energy use by 10% over the next 2 years and reduce the Council’s carbon footprint by over 1000 Tonnes, the equivalent to removing 350 Cars off the roads of South Tipperary. It will involve the installation of high efficiency pumping technology in the water treatment plants, better insulation and heating controls in Council buildings and wind and hydro power plants at remote locations. Further information on the Councils plans are outlined in the Councils new Climate Change Strategy available from the Environment Section of the County Council.
