Home composting is an easy alternative to throwing your organic waste such as vegetable peelings in your bin. It is estimated that approximately one third of waste produced in the home is organic waste that can be composted. The majority of organic waste produced in the home comes from the kitchen, in the preparation of meals and snacks.Potato skins, vegetable peels, fruit skins and even egg shells can be thrown into the home composting unit where they break down naturally to produce a rich nutrient compost ideal for your garden plants. Composters are on sale from Waller's-Lot Recycling Centre and Legaun Recycling Centre for €40. Please note that when buying a composter from Legaun Recycling Centre the payment has to be made in County Hall, Clonmel and the composter can be picked up on presentation of the receipt at Legaun Recycling Centre. You can pay for and pick up your composter at Waller's-Lot Recycling Cenre, Cashel.
