The South Tipperary County Development Plan 2009-2015 (CDP) has designated 19 villages as District Service Centres and as part of the “Actions” arising from the CDP District Service Centre Enhancement Schemes (DSCES) have being carried out for the following settlements to date (click on settlement name to view scheme).
The purpose of the schemes is to facilitate and guide improvement works to the streetscapes of these settlements and to enhance village amenity by way of elements such as tree planting and landscaping, improved pedestrian amenity, public lighting, street furniture, etc. It is intended that the schemes will inform and inspire local community groups, residents, applicants for development, builders, designers and planners.
Draft schemes were prepared by MosArt who are consultants in the area of village design and placed on public display for a 4 week period. Public information sessions were also held in each village by the consultants, attended by the local elected members and planning staff. Submissions and observations on all aspects of the schemes were invited from the public both at pre-draft stage and during the public display period and the schemes were modified and amended as a result of the input from the local community. The schemes were then endorsed by the Elected Members of South Tipperary County Council.
