Step 4: Water Re-use
Do you re-use water from your plate cooler?
Plate coolers use from 1 to 3 litres of water for each litre of milk Cooled. The plate cooler from a 100 cow dairy herd will use about 6m3 per day of water. Re-use the plate cooler water for other suitable purposes
Do you recycle dairy washing water?
Water used will be about 50litres/milking point/day for cleaning the units. Collect the used washing water and use for swilling the collecting yard. Save 80m3 per year in 10 point parlour.
